I.I. Wellington Chapter #158

Ikebana International

Ikebana International is a cultural non-profit organisation founded in Tokyo, Japan in 1956 by Mrs. Ellen Gordon Allan. Its purpose is to stimulate, cultivate and perpetrate the study of ikebana and allied cultures throughout the world.

Through this association, Masters, teachers and students are drawn into closer understanding. By the establishment of Chapters throughout the world, contact is maintained with ikebana as it is practiced in Japan, thereby giving stimulus and inspiration not otherwise available.

Membership is open to all persons who are interested in the Art of Japanese Flower Arrangement, regardless of experience.

Their motto is:

‘Friendship through Flowers’
